What is an affidavit?
An affidavit is a written declaration or statement of facts made under oath before someone who has authority to administer oaths such as a notary public.
What is the difference between an affidavit and a declaration?
In an affidavit, statements need to be sworn before a notary public whereas a declaration does not require an oath taken before a notary.
When do I need a name affidavit?
When you make important transactions such as selling or buying real estate, a name affidavit can be used to distinguish you from a person who has the same name or a similar name to certify that you are the person engaged in the transaction.
